Hi I am Ebony Gheorghe founder of Nettles and Bees.
Nettles & Bees is a nature-based services and outdoor learning consultancy helping children, community groups and schools to discover the learning, biodiversity and wellbeing opportunities right outside their doors.
A bit about me
My background brings together environmental science, soil science, outdoor education, horticulture and practical experience working with landscapes. I have worked across the environmental science field within geographic information systems, geotechnical engineering, soil science for landscaping, and outdoor education workshop facilitation spanning over a period of 8 years of experience all together.
I have always been particularly fascinated by the plants and wildlife we often overlook. My love of wild plants led me to run my own foraging and herbal workshops, and I have also created plant identification resources and written about seasonal plants and their uses.
Through Nettles & Bees, I want to bring this knowledge together to help schools create small, practical and biodiverse outdoor spaces that children can learn from and enjoy.
Why Nettles and Bees?
The Mission
We believe a school garden doesn't need to be large, expensive or perfectly manicured to be valuable. A patch of wildflowers, a thriving soil ecosystem, a few native plants, or even a carefully managed patch of "weeds" can become a living classroom.

We specialise in small-scale projects, working directly with schools to assess, develop and maintain their outdoor spaces. This means we can provide a personal, hands-on service from the initial consultation and planning through to planting, maintenance, monitoring and reporting.
The Philosophy
We believe we don't need to make every space neat and perfect for nature. Sometimes we simply need to give nature room to grow — and give children the opportunity to discover it.
Through Nettles & Bees, my aim is to help schools grow biodiversity, inspire curiosity and create meaningful connections between children and the natural world.
